Advanced Bodywork
for Massage Therapists
A 7 weekend series of workshops on specialised techniques that will enrich your work beyoud your expectations
West Vancouver, BC
First weekend: July 12th - 13th
After years of studying all around the world, practicing various forms of bodywork with thousands of clients, i have decided to offer a series of workshops to teach specialised techniques to Registered Massage Therapists. This is a series of 7 weekend workshops teaching techniques combining from myofascial therapy, craniosacral therapy, scar therapy, abdominal massage, osteomassage, Thai, etc., all within the scope of practice of RMTs from BC.

Most of you will wonder what is my background, so i'll summarise my experience. Like every massage therapists, manual therapists and bodyworkers, i have studied many approaches and formed my own. Living in Asia for many years, i have gotten some certified and some uncertified trainings, often studying in private. I have studied Swedish massage, Foot reflexology, Chi nei tsang, Karsai nei tsang, Myofascial release (Rolfing and Structural integration), Osteo massage, Thai massage, Visceral manipulation (VM2), Neurokinetic therapy (NKT 2), Compassionate inquiry, Craniosacral therapy (Upledger), Stretching therapy (AIS and Ki-Hara), Alignment yoga teaching, Therapeutic Tantric dearmouring, Therapeutic Yoni massage, and i keep studying, because the more you learn, the better you understand people. I have developed an approach of gynaecological massage that combines most of these approaches and have been teaching it since 2016. Currently living in Vancouver, i offer a variety of modalities. Some of my work involve genital work, but a large portion of my work is exclusively external and fall within the scope of practice of RMTs or Osteopaths, which is why i do not want to maintain any registration.
I am not registered myself because i find that it limits too much the approach i can use and the work that i can do with clients, all adults. I honour my clients' boundaries strictly while honouring their true needs. They are complex beings with complex needs, and i find that i often have to mix various approaches to work at a deep level. That being said, many of the techniques i use successfully fall into the scope of practice of RMTs, Manual therapists and Osteopaths. I will focus on these.

Enough about me. This training is designed to further the knowledge and practice of RMTs, Manual therapists or Osteopaths by introducing techniques that are not taught in regular trainings. I may also accept practitioners with strong foundations and practice without registration. The series of workshops is spread over 7 weekends between May 10th and December 7th. Classes will run on Saturday from 9am to 5pm, and Sunday from 9am to 1pm. Here is the list of the topics covered each weekend. I personally work on a mat on the ground, but my students can choose to work on mats or on tables. I provide mats, but students who want to work on tables need to bring one for themselves. Details of each weekend is found below.

Details of the Syllabus
Weekend 1: Anatomy and foundational concepts (July 12th-13th)
I offer an alternative vision of the body and bodywork, so it seems important to me to review anatomy and study some concepts and techniques together before we get into specialized work. Most anatomy knowledge is acquired on cadaver, yet i sure don’t work with cadavers, and i doubt you do. The anatomy i teach is strongly infused with clinical observations and research. We’s develop palpation and listening skills. We’ll also spend time on craniosacral and various techniques used throughout the following weekends.
Weekend 2: Abdominal Work (August 9th-10th)
Nothing worse that not feeling good in the belly, right? It affects and is affected by every emotion and thought. This workshop covers the anatomy of peritoneal, subperitoneal and internal pelvic organs, basic chi nei tsang and osteopathic adjustments of internal organs. The organs involved are the liver, gall bladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, mesantary, omentum, peritoneum, stomach, duodenum, small intestine, colons, bladder, uterus/cervix, ovaries, prostate. You are not what you eat, you are what you digest.
Weekend 3: Myofascial Balancing (September 13th-14th)
Fascia is a complex organ that is prevalent almost everywhere in the body. Most cells of the body are wrapped in fascia. It offers structure, protection, communication, and fluid exchange. It heats up your skin and adjust your feet position when you move even only a finger. It communicates faster than nerves. They also store trauma and emotions. There are many forms of fascia, and every kind has it's functions. Fascia is organized differently depending on it's location, but in general, there are 3 types of fascia organizations: for movement (anatomy trains), postural (holding body parts and organs together and in place), and correctional (scars). Balancing the tension along fascia is crucial in the proper functioning of the body. We'll study major fascia of the body (scars studied separately), focussing on how to assess and adjust it with a variety of approaches, always aware that emotions or trauma may come up as the release happens.
Weekend 4: Ribs, spine and sacrum work (November 8th-9th)
Finally a more global and effective approach to back work! Combining myofascial release with rib realignment and osteopathic spinal adjustment, this approach is gentle and effective. We’ll see how to adjust osteopathically the vertebrae and the ribs, release spine compression, scoliosis, stenosis, work with the neck, readjust the Si joint, assess the coccyx.
Weekend 5: Hip and Pelvic Work (December 13th-14th)
The pelvis is literally the central piece of the body and having a happy pelvis is critical for proper functioning of the body. It is held in place by opposing forces of the organs it holds and the fascia that surrounds it. The hips are the intersection of the legs and the pelvis, and they constitute a complex balance of fascial and muscular structures around the pelvis. We'll study the main pelvic issues and hip dysfunctions, and how to correct them gently: hip dysplasia, hip compression, SI joint dysfunction, piriformis syndrome, sciatica, etc.
Weekend 6: Scar Work (January 10th-11th)
Scars are the body's attempt to stabilise soft tissues that have been cut or damaged. They are permanent, whether you can see them or not, and what you see is just the tip of the iceberg. A c-section scar can pull your liver or your spleen down or pull your toes up. The techniques shown in this workshop will emphasize working the scars outside-in and cover large areas of the body. We’ll see various types of scars. We’ll also work with the emotions attached to the scars, as they have a deep impact on their healing.
Weekend 7: Pelvic floor, breasts and bladder work (February 14th-15th)
genital and anal work is not allowed by RMTs in BC, however, a lot can be done externally without touching the genitals or the anus. It all starts with proper consent and boundaries setting, which we'll study and practice. Then we'll practice techniques to release the pelvic floor externally, through massage and breath. We'll also work on the bladder to reduce the impact of incontinence. Finally, we'll study breast massage techniques to help cysts, fibroids and fibrous tissue.
